Convert Epic Timeline View to Percentages

remi October 8, 2024

HI ,

I track my projects in the epic timeline view.

I have been asked to convert the timeline view into percentages so the business can understand what % of an epic has been worked on in a given month.

Please has anyone done this before.

Kindly help

Hi @remi_omoyele,

I'm afraid that this is not possible without Advanced Roadmaps, which requires the Premium plan. Another solution would be to search for a plugin on Atlassian Marketplace that provides such capability.

If you consider the idea of using a plugin, our Great Gadgets app offers a Pivot Table & Pivot Chart gadget that can calculate % completion for your epics based on number of tasks resolved or amount of story points burned.

The result can be displayed as a table, heat-map table or charts or various types. See some examples:

Hi @remi_omoyele,

The progress indicators in timeline view are not configurable in timelines on the standard plan.

In an advanced roadmaps plan (which is part of Jira Premium) these percentages can be displayed using a progress field.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Walter Buggenhout unfortunately we do not have the Jira Premium.

Is there any other way i can achieve this ?

Hi @remi_omoyele

If you would like to try out an add-on for this use case, pls take a look at

Issue Hierarchy

The app shows your issue hierarchy in a tree view created through Issue Links. The Issues in the tree can be in multiple projects and the app will pull out each one of them and show you a structured hierarchy. Also % completed at each parent level.

The app has multiple other features which are very useful in project tracking and management.

(Disclaimer: I work on RVS, the vendor for this app)
