Working in Jira Cloud, Premium edition. I have a custom issue type that is being used with cards created through an automation rule. I can limit who runs the rule to the specific group (ECPMO CDL_CDM Group). I want to limit who can create the card in the project create screen without using a java script or special permission group.
The people working these cards will be anyone on the project team and need to be able to create other issue types on the project.
I'm trying to use a workflow validator (screen print below) but it doesn't seem to take a group as the user name parameter. Can someone advise on whether this is possible?

You can only do that with project permissions.
the Validator works on already created work items(Jira issues. Not cards BTW)
FYI, the User Permission Validator doesn't accept groups and is obsolete.
Check the permissions and a third app might be helpful for user validation—something like JMWE.

Thank you for your insights. Yes, I've used workflow validators to limit work item transitions unless the requestor is in a specific group.
