Automation rule error

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!

Each time the issue is transitioned to In Progress status, its Assignee is set to user who triggered the event.

Possibly there was an old rule which is not enabled for the project. 

Also a deleted rule is working.

Could you suggest what may be causing this?

Welcome to thr community 

First, I would check the workflow transition and see if there is a postfunction that assigns the ticket. You need sys admin permissions to check.

There could also be a transition screen that asks the user to select assignee, check that too.

Second, I would check the jira automation rules and go through the audit logs to see if there is a rule that is triggered.
