Automatically send email back to the reporter when issue created.

When an email is sent it is received by JIRA and a new issue is created. That is working well. Can we automatically have JIRA send email back to the user that created the issue?

As Jobin mentioned, the Notify on your own changes setting is usually what causes issues with this (as of JIRA 5.0, this defaults to FALSE). That said, this will also only work for existing users in the system; new/unknown users will not receive a notification.

The Notification Scheme is associated with the project. If you have more than just the Default, you can go to the Project Aministration page to see which needs to be edited.

In terms of the notify setting, that is under each user's profile, so when logged in, the user must go to their profile to change this (icon at the upper right of the instance).

Add Reporter in the notification scheme for "Issue Created" event.

If you already have it, you might have disabled "Notify for own changes" option in your profile. You can enable it back and you will get mails for issues created by you.
