Apply a filter to a kanban board

Bernadette.Chandrasegaram June 16, 2024

Hello,

Firstly, thanks so those who answer questions. I have googled and used answer several times in the past. helpful. Thanks.

My question is: I have created a kanban board. I want to apply a filter (see below for the JQL) but I cannot see HOW to actually apply the JQL filter to the kanban.

Here are the steps I am taking:

1. From my kanban, clicking ellipses in top, tight (i.e. ...)

2. selecting "configure board"

3. selecting "general"

4. selecting "edit filter query"

5. This takes me to another page. I am entering my JQL in the top here, but I cannot seem to "commit it"

Have also tried to go "my projects"; "boards" and then edit it from here to "select" my filter, but this doesn't work either.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

B.

JQL:

project = NOVO2 and parent IN (NOVO2-54) and issuetype in(Story) and status NOT IN (CLOSED) ORDER BY Rank ASC

Hi @Bernadette.Chandrasegaram

After entering your JQL query, click on "Search" to display the issues based on your query. Then, beside the search option, you will see an option to save filter. Click on "Save" and go back to the previous board settings tab. Refresh it so that the filter is automatically updated.

Find the screenshot below for your reference.

Hi Bernadette - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

When you get to step 5, put in your new query and hit Search so it will give you the new results.

If you don’t see a safe button, that would mean you are not the owner of the filter or do not have edit permissions. But you should be able to do a save as.

Then come back to Step three above, but instead of clicking on edit query, click on the actual name of the filter itself. Replace that with the filter you just saved.
