Adding sub-tasks to issues after the sprint has started

Thandi Velaphi September 12, 2022

Good day, trust all is well? Please could you guide me on this.  I've been discussing with my team the issue of adding stories/issues after a new sprint has started and how this affects not only our scope but burn down chart aswell. So that stuck...next question I was asked was what if the story/issue is in progress but we add sub-tasks to that parent after the sprint has started, would that affect the scope and burn down chart too? My first thought was no it shouldn't since we report at story level, but i'm doubting myself aswell in that thinking. Please could you provide your input on this? I'd appreciate it.

Kind regards

Thandi

Sub-tasks are not sprint items and don't have estimates, so it doesn't matter if you add them before or after a sprint starts.  They won't affect your sprint reporting
