Import test results to using Jenkins xray plugin

Aravind Kesavarapu July 29, 2021

Hi,

I am able to import test results to jira xray using xray plugin in Jenkins to the existing test execution. But requirement project requirement was

  •  Whenever new release happens create test execution dynamically, add required fields and import all the test results to xray
  • And for all sanity checks of the application update test results to the existing test execution (it was default test execution added as tag on cucumber feature level) and add comment to the existing test execution like "executed on 29-july -21 & Jenkins build number : 123"

Is it possible to create & update test executions dynamically using xray jira without changing Jenkins configuration everytime.

Thanks,

Aravind.

Hi @Aravind Kesavarapu

It depends on the result you want to achieve; however, there is a possible solution for this.

If you export the feature files from Jira, you can export them from the Test Execution keys to having the Test Execution key mapped in the feature file. And when importing, it will know which executions it can update.

Also, you can use a script or Jenkins pipeline to have more flexibility on how you make the requests to get the result you need.

Thank you.
