Hi everyone!
i have a company-managed business project and a have given the administer Projects permission to a user bob on a project named GDDP.
i noticed that bob can add users to a projet roles in GDDP project but he can't delete user from roles. is this normal?
Thanks.
Hi Amar,
You should be able to "removing user from project role" as Project administrator:
Administer Projects
This permission allows people access to your project’s settings.
They can:
edit project components,
edit project versions,
edit some project details – project name, URL, project lead, and project description
You can check this Atlassian documentation - Permissions for company-managed projects
Removing a user or group from a project role
Go to your project and click Project settings.
Select People.
In the user's or group's entry on the table, select Remove.
Because group membership can only be edited by users with the Administer Jira global permission, project administrators may therefore prefer to assign users, rather than groups, to their project roles.
A project role does not need to have any users or groups assigned to it, although project administrators should be careful with this. Depending on how a project role is used (e.g. if the project's permission scheme is using project roles), it is possible that not having anyone in a particular project role could make some project activities unavailable.
Pavel
Thank you
Here is the error message (in French) that bob obtain when he attempt to remove the user from the project role that he has already created in the GDDP Project. Bob has the Administer project permission in the GDDP project but not the Administer Jira global permission.

The answer is in the error message that "bob" receives:
"This project requires at least one administrator. Add another administrator before changing your role or deleting yourself."
It sounds like bob is trying to remove the only user assigned to the Administrator role for the project. There must be at least one person assigned to that role.

it's not the case. The role speeking about is not an administrator role and there are multiple users in the role.
the role is only used in the workflow and automation script to manage transitions and issue assignation.

Can you please provide a screen image from the System Projects Roles screen showing the information for the Role definition.
https://<your Jira URL>/secure/project/ViewProjectRoles.jspa
Can you provide a screen image from the Permission Screen associated with the project (under Project Settings > Permissions) where bob is trying to modify Role Membership, show how the Administer Projects permission has been allocated?
Example:
Can you provide a screen image from the People screen for the project (Project Settings > People) where bob is trying to modify Role Membership and point out...?
- which user bob is trying to remove from the role
- show the roles for another user that is assigned to the role for which bob is trying to change the role members

Hi @ADM Amar Msaid,
Maybe there could be a problem with the French translation of Jira Cloud. Please try to switch Jira to English (switch in your profile) and try the whole operation again.

Hello Pavel,
the problem persists even if the user uses the US language. and even if there is multiple members in the role.

Hi @ADM Amar Msaid,
thank you for your information. This behaviours looks like as "bug" of Jira Cloud behaviours. You can try add Mariangela to project role "Administrator"? Then Mariangela can try remove user again.
If the error persists, please contact Atlassian support.
