Jira Work Management - The number of status "Done" in the List tab does not match the Summary

Danish Akhtar February 1, 2024

The status on some sub-tasks are showing as DONE in the List tab, but they were not showing in the Summary>Status overview. We altered the status from DONE to IN-PROGRESS and then back to DONE in the List tab, that allowed the Summary>Status overview to become correct for the number of DONEs

Root Cause is unknown:

QUESTIONS: Why Jira does not recognize all the DONEs automatically? Why do we have to change the status manually from DONE to IN-PROGRESS TO DONE? Is there a way to automate this?

Hello @Danish Akhtar

JWM projects will automatically hide "done" (green colored status) issues from the board when they have been in that status for 2 weeks or longer. The Summary page reflects only the issues that show on the board. The older "done" issues that have be hidden from the board will not be included in the Status Overview diagram on the Summary page.

If you changed them back to In Progress and then to Done again, then they are "newly" done and will again show on the board and be included in the Status Overview diagram.

Hi Trudy, thank you for the answer. Is there a way of extending 2 weeks to 6 months and how do we do that please?

Thank you

No, the time period is not configurable in JWM projects. It is hard coded as 2 weeks.

There are two open change requests related to this. You can add your vote/comments to them:

Hi Danish,

This is hard to diagnose without seeing what you saw in the list view (just the list of issue keys, their status, and resolution - we don't need to see summaries) before you transitioned the issues out and back into the Done status.

Did the list view change as well as the pie chart when you did the transitions?

We may need to look at your workflow too.

Danish Akhtar February 5, 2024

The list view shows the number of DONEs correctly. The summary is incorrect for DONEs.

It may well do, but we need to see the list view to check what is happening.

What you need to be looking at is an issue that should be being counted but isn't, so you can compare it with one that is working.

Same issue here. Or it allows you to select how many weeks back to show or let it select all items.

The way it is set up doesn't make sense, not every project has a 2-weeks sprint.

Please raise this topic to the development team.
