It appears that they come together. I would like team members to see when something is due without being able to change that.

It's been my experience that the Schedule Issues permission gives you the ability to edit the Due Date but the Browse Issues permission lets you see it. Have you tried just granting the browse permission only and not the Schedule Issues permission?
