Any recommended sprint planning tools besides Jira?

Andre June 6, 2024

Hi community, me and my team are working Scrum board  with the help of Jira backlog to manage our tasks. However, I just wonder if there are any other options or third-party solutions for sprint planning management?

Since we're having quite a handful of projects and we think we might need an extra hand. Thank you in advanced.

Hi @Andre, welcome to the community.

I believe what suits you (and your team) best in this case is to find a solution available on the Atlassian marketplace, as they are well-tuned and have seamless integration with Jira.

Currently, there are various solutions available. So it would be a great help if you could provide more information about your specific needs in a sprint planning tool.

Hi @Lucas_DevSamurai_

We're looking for a way to gather all projects tasks or Sprint backlog at the same place since we will have to run multiple projects in the future. Our team is not very big so it can become handy if we can view and manage our projects bit by bit.

Thanks for your input.

So I think you might need something like Scrumban (which is a combination of Scrum with sprint planning and Kanban board) to have better management with visuals.

As for now, I can recommend testing out the sprint Kanban feature from Routemap -Portfolio Roadmaps, Timeline Gantt-chart & Kanban for Jira. What it does is it will gather your sprint backlog in Jira from multiple projects and visualize them on the same Kanban board. So I believe this will work flawlessly for your needs.

And in case you want to have more effective Sprint retrospectives and enhance your sprint meetings, you can also take a look at Planning Poker, Agile Retrospectives, Daily Standup. It will help make your Agile retrospective sessions more fun and productive.

With real-time discussion, you can your team can type messages and have a conversation so everyone can understand what's going on.

Hope these tools can help you manage your sprints and work more efficiently.

And sorry for the late response :(

Hi @Andre

Welcome to the community!

You might want to explore some capacity planning applications available on the Atlassian marketplace.

One example is Team Planner - Resource Planning and Capacity Planning, created by SolDevelo, the company I am working for.

In the app, you can create a plan for a specific project while also being able to display and add tasks from multiple projects. The plan is presented in the clear calendar format and the length of the plan can be adjusted to your preferences.

Additionally, you can display estimations such as the Original Estimate value or Story Points.

In the app you can filter your Jira tasks, for example, by the status, so you can display the tasks from your backlog, or by the sprint, so the app shows you tasks only from the particular sprint:

Additionally, your team can collaboratively edit the plan in real-time, such as during planning sessions. You also have the option to include days off for users in the plan.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me here. Or if you would like to book a demo to see how our apps work go to this link.

Kind regards,
