Pulldown to change workflow status in backlog list for Company Managed project?

Chris Stival June 24, 2022

QuickStatusChange.pngI've created a new Company Managed project for one of our software teams, who have traditionally been using a Team Managed project. They've pointed out that in the Team Managed project, the backlog view lets them easily choose a workflow status via a pulldown that is right there in the list. I cannot find a setting for this in the new Company Managed project. Is this simply a difference between the two project types, or have I missed a setting?

The two project types are very different in their implementations, and no, you've not missed anything.

It's more complex for company managed projects because they are more powerful.

The boards (and hence backlogs) can contain many issue types from many different projects and in order to provide that drop-down, they would have to read every single issue on display in the backlog, read its workflow and work out what to offer.

In a team-managed project, it is easier because you only have to read for each issue type used in the project.

This is a good answer Nic...thank you! It really helps with a proper explanation. Have a great weekend!
