Modifying Issue Hierarchy in Advanced Roadmaps

annie December 9, 2022

If I want to add another issuetype in the issue type hierarchy in Advanced Roadmaps, how do I minimize the damage caused by parent links breaking. I got this error when I tried to add a new issuetype:

"Moving or changing hierarchy levels of issue types will break existing parent links in all company-managed projects in your site. This change can't be reversed."

For context my current issue hierarchy is:

  1. Objective
  2. Company Key Result
  3. Initiative
  4. Epic
  5. ...

And my new hierarchy will be:

  1. Objective
  2. Company Key Result
  3. Vertical Key Result
  4. Initiative
  5. ....

Hi @annie , this is a warning, not an error.

Make sure you query and save/export a list of all issue links between the 'Company Key Result' and 'Initiative' issues as these will break.

After changing the hierarchy, you'll need to manually re-link Initiatives to Vertical Key Results and those to Company Key Results via parent/child relationships.

Dave or Annie, any idea how to write this query to show all issue links? I'm considering doing the same thing. Thanks
