We are trying to redirect the user to the Jira issue link from ServiceNow but it's not working if the user opens the link in the same tab as ServiceNow tab.

@Amado Sierra iframes allow for cross site scripting attacks to occur. I believe that you will need to allow for cross origin communications with iframes in service now. You will have to review service now's setting to see if they allow cross-orgin iframe communication and you might also have a whitelist of some sort as well.
Do you have a way to enforce having the link open to a new window so it is not in the iframe?
