Issues linked from Service management are not visible in Product discovery

Deleted user November 15, 2023

I am trying to set up automations transitioning the service management tickets linked to Product Discovery ideas.

I can link a Service Management ticket to a Product discovery idea, however this link is not visible in product discovery (hence I can't use it for automations).

When I try to link a ticket from Product discovery, the "is idea for" or "added to idea" link types are not available.

Probably I am missing some link between the two projects, but have no idea where.

Just an update, that I still don't have a working solution for this problem. From a different chat I got the following information:

Currently, Jira Product Discovery (JPD) ideas use 2 specific kind of issue link types which are the following:

  • is an idea for / added to idea -> used to link ideas to their insights which are then displayed in the Insights tab.
  • is implemented by / implements -> used to link ideas to their Delivery tickets which are displayed in the Delivery tab.

Linking an idea to another Jira ticket with the implements issue link type will display that Jira ticket in the Delivery tab, however this won't work with the added to idea issue link type for insights as that method is not yet supported for JPD.
To add insights, you must add them directly from the Insights tab in a JPD idea or via the JPD Chrome extension instead. The linked ideas will appear with the issue link type is an idea for for the Jira tickets you have linked this way.

However, its still not a solution:

  • adding Jira Service Management tickets via the browser addon is not really feasible, as it adds the whole URL (which is often a filter and not the issue itself). Also if I somehow manage to link the ticket to the idea via the addon, I cannot see the link on the linked issue itself. It's a KPI for us to assign every feature request to an idea within 1 month, so we need to regularly monitor for SM Feature requests not assigned to ideas
  • if I manually add a Jira SM ticket via is "is idea for" the link is nowhere visible on the Product Discovery idea - not even as an Insight
  • i tried to create a manual action that would link the SM tickets to ideas, but apparenlty its not supported as well

Any suggestions how to do this efficiently? There must be a way how to interconnect tickets from service management with product ideas
