The default fields' layout in the Backlog view includes the "Priority" field. We stoped using this field ion one of our projects and replaced it with the "Severity" field. Is it possible to replace "Priority" with "Severity" in the Backlog view?
Hello @Gregory Kremer ,
TL;DR -> you can't replace the priority field in the backlog but you can add the Severity field
Unfortunately, the standard fields that are included by default in the backlog view (issue type, summary, issue key, priority, assignee, status) are not configurable. You can add additional fields if you go to your Board Configuration -> Issue Layout -> Backlog and add the Severity field there. Then the Severity field will appear in your backlog without requiring you to select each issue.
I will note that this approach will make the height of each issue in your backlog a little taller, so you will see fewer issues on your screen and you'll have to do a little more scrolling, but the value add of the Severity field to your prioritization/refinement processes may offset this drawback.
Hope this helps!
Samuel,
I have added "Severity" field to the Card Layout for Backlog, but it never appeared in the Backlog. BTW, the path to it is Board Setting -> Card Layout. There is no Issue Layout option. I am in the Cloud environment.

Thanks for clarifying, I was going off of memory and jumbled the terms.
Can you provide a screenshot of the configuration in the Card Layout as well as a picture of your backlog?
Thanks!

Samuel,
I've just noticed that the "Severity" field does appear in the backlog, but not next to the issue's summary. My guess it's the best we would be able to do. I'll just set up and automation to copy field value from Severity into Priority to make it visible to users. Thank you for your suggestion.
