How do I avoid that mails send to jira and imported with a mail handlet get truncated?

I use the mail handler to attach e-mail thread discussions to a ticket, however only the first e-mail in thread gets imported. Is there a way to change this and import the whole thread?

I think you are referring  to this suggestion - JSDCLOUD-2044 - Include request history in customer notifications 

If so on alternative is an addon mail handler like JETI or JEMH.
