HELP : changing Epic reset component

HI maybe so can help please ?

I'm using component to specify and group my User story linked also to a major EPIC. But when i'm changing the epic linked, the component are reset and i'm loosing them all. Don't understand why and how to prevent this please ?

Thanks Nic, i've got the admin rights,  but no automation found for this, my Jira project of classical type is new and there's no automation at all yet ....

This suggests you have an automation or script changing components on your issues dependent on the Epic Link.  Jira Software does not do this off-the-shelf, it has to be added.  Check with your admins for automations and listeners that might be doing it.
