Global error message vs. validator error message

I have a validator error message for this transition, but instead people get a global/system error which prompts them to contact me instead of simply providing a link in the required fields. 

Why is this error message showing up instead of the validator message and how can I resolve this

Check the conditions as there might be a condition limiting who can actually perform the transition or similar condition.

Hi @Jack Brickey thanks, but no, the only conditions are that the two required fields cannon be NULL.

Please tell us the error message that you are actually getting, rather than the one you specified in the validator.
