Few of the apps installed newly are failing to load with error message-"Something's gone wrong"

Prashant Hembrom May 26, 2020

Newly installed apps like BigPicture Enterprise and Azure Pipelines for JIRA are failing to load. The error is coming with multiple apps intermittently such as "At a glance", "Big Picture Enterprise", "Azure Pipelines for JIRA" etc. The exact error message is "Something's gone wrong. Our team has been notified. If the problem persists please contact Atlassian support" And there's a link to reload the page clicking on the which the page reloads but the same error re-appears.

The newly installed apps are not even appearing in the Apps dropdown menu on the top.

Anyone else facing this situation?

Hi Prashant,

Unfortunately, three of the add-ons you are using (At a Glance DevOps Dashboard for Jira, Azure Pipelines for Jira, and Katalon BDD - Test Automation for Jira) are not compliant to a security vulnerability we asked the Vendors to patch in October of 2019. We have reached out to the Vendor several times but were unable to receive confirmation of a plan to resolve. Atlassian has delayed the fix for as long as we feel comfortable, and so now, in order to provide our customers with a secure and reliable platform, we have no choice but to deploy the fix. This means that the UI of your add-on will fail to load and will not be usable until the vulnerability is fixed.

Please contact each vendor of your add-ons at

to inform them that their add-on is broken and request that they deploy a fix as soon as possible.  To give them context you can share the initial notice: https://community.developer.atlassian.com/t/deprecation-of-xdm-e-usage/32768.

As for the Bigpicture add-ons, I do not currently see these on my list of affected products of the problem described above.  However you might want to reach out to them as well over in https://softwareplant.com/jira/servicedesk/customer/portal/1.  I see that you're using the Free plan for Jira Cloud and in turn some add-ons we have found do not operate as they were expected to in the Free plans due to limitations of those free plans

Regards,

Andy

Hey Andy,

From the last two weeks, we are facing frequently "Something's gone wrong" and addOn not loaded.

Atlassian has any vulnerability check list which we need to take care of as part to make vendor app load smoothly. generally, I get an "invalid sandbox flag" and some time window. session error in my browser console that time my app is not loading.

Sandbox error coming from below Jira vendor pack: "https://jira-frontend-static.prod.public.atl-paas.net/assets-brotli/vendor~9c5b28f6.a2d141841507213df73c.8.js"

Hi @Umang Savaliya

I don't know of any such checks.  However I would recommend creating a support request from one of the sites in which you see this behavior.  Perhaps our Cloud support team can investigate this further to find out more here.

You should be able to open such as case by going to https://support.atlassian.com/contact and from there select technical issues.  Be sure to indicate the Cloud URL where this happens, how often this happens, which specific Cloud app you are trying to load here, etc.  It might also help if you indicate when opening this case if you are affiliated with the vendor that creates that app.  This can help our support team to better understand the scope of the problem.

Thanks

Andy

Thanks, @Andy Heinzer for your replay. we already created a support ticket for the same but not received any update. https://ecosystem.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/14/DEVHELP-4833

We are using some JavaScript methods which are deprecated or it's going to be deprecated in the near future as part of iFrame sandbox security update so I am not sure our app load issue is because of that. However, I have replaced that code with alternate suggested methods.

Thanks,

Surely the Azure Pipelines for JIRA are failing to load error has been fixed a year later ? As I am still getting this issue...

The link for raising a call with Azure no longer works either...
