Dashboard error: Failed to save layout, please refresh this page

I am getting this error on one of my dashboards when I try to move a gadget to a new location.  Any ideas are much appreciated!

I tried:

---logging out and back in

---other dashboards let me move gadgets so I copied the problem dashboard but still had the same issues

I recreated the dashboard from scratch and it is working now.
