Hello all,
I cannot change issue status from the Backlog column in Jira community version.
The project is set to kanban style
Here is the symptom and what I have tried.
Please shed me a light on this issue.
I cannot change issue status from the Backlog column, here is the what happens when I tap on an issue's Status
The is the error I got when I try to move an issue from Backlog column to other columns such as "In-Progress" or "Resolved".
This is what I see in Workflow, it is weird that "there is no transition out of this status" I somehow, I tried but I could't add new out-going transition from BACKLOG.
This is the error I got when I try to edit BACKLOG status, Jira doesn't allow me to save an updated workflow with outgoing status for BACKLOG.
I don't know why I cannot add outgoing status from Backlog, it is grey out.
Hi @HUNG Nguyen Vu (VTI) - Is this a Classic Project or a Next-gen project?
Also, you must have the Transition Issues permission available to you in the Permission Scheme attached to the project to be able to Transition issues in general.
When you don't have an outgoing status from a status that you are trying to change in the Workflow, Jira will often times prevent you from publishing. The solution is to first copy the workflow, then make changes to the inactive workflow copy. After that, add the new workflow to the existing Workflow Scheme for that project to start using the new workflow.
It seems you might have some issues with your current workflow - where it either has not outgoing transitions or has a loop of transitions back to itself.
It's true you can't add outgoing transitions to a status with none when it's active - see Working with Workflows under Active Workflow:
If a status has no outgoing transitions (Global transitions are not considered), it can't have any new outgoing transitions added (regular or global).
Given the above this is what I would do:
^ Using similar / the same workflow statuses will ensure minimal impact on your project - but this is an easy method to add a working workflow when things like this happen!
