Can reordering the backlog affect all boards that are based on the same filter?

Hi,

We have a kanban board and a sprint/scrum board and they use one and the same filter. In other words, they are two different views and we like having both of them. However, when we reorder the tickets in one of the boards, the reordering is not reflected in the other. Can reordering of the backlog in one board change the order in the other board as well - so that both boards are the same?

Thank you!

In a word yes. This is because ranking is not associated with a specific board. Rather ranking is global and the ranking value is associated with an issue. So if you were to rank a bunch of issue on separate board where there were no issues overlapped and then you create a new board with Order by ranking engaged where all those issues were on the new board then the ranking positions would be relative to your placement on the other boards. Then if you were to modify the position of an issue on any board it’s position would change on others.
