Jason Lane September 16, 2022

HI,

Im wondering if anyone knows of a way to automate the Backlog Prioritization setting in an issue. When ever an issue comes it I have to manually update the Backlog Prioritization score but wondered if i can set this with the 'label' is populated?

Hello @Jason Lane

Can you explain exactly how you "update the Backlog Prioritization score"? Is that a custom field you have added or are you talking about the position of the issue within the list of issues in the backlog?

The position of the issues within the list of issues in the backlog is referred to as its Rank. The Rank of an issue is set relative to the issues it is higher and lower than. This is not a field that can effectively be directly manipulated, other than by dragging and dropping an issue within the list to change its Rank.

Can't really think of an idea to do it (there might be), but from a quick search there are some apps on the marketplace:

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1227636/backlog-prioritization-for-jira-free?tab=overview&hosting=cloud (free)

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1224236/backlog-prioritization-for-jira-pro?tab=overview&hosting=cloud (paid)

You can and ought to search further in the marketplace for something that suits your need.
