Automation: Trigger a workflow based on a value in a drop down field.

Mitesh Chauhan May 19, 2022

New to Jira and please point me in right direction if this question has already been answered :-)

We have a drop down field which is associated to a single project and NOT a global custom field.

Drop down is called Product Type and for discussion, the drop down values are Type 1, Type 2, Type 3.

I'd like to create a workflow to send out an email to a user when Type1 is selected during issue creation.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi @Mitesh Chauhan ,

In the case you describe, I would create an automation rule that sends an email. See attached example.

Hi @Marco Brundel

Thank you for your prompt reply.

in Fields to Monitor Changes I dont see my Product Type drop down as that drop down is only in this project and NOT a global custom field. I can see other other default fields like Assignee, Environment etc.

My understanding I should be able to create workflows based on fields local to project.

Thanks

Mitesh
