Add approvals when there is no Approval option in the navigation bar

I created a project for change control and need to add an approval step requiring a certain number of approvers selected from a people picker. Unfortunately I don't seem to have the Approvals option in my navigation bar - did I select the wrong type of project upon creation?

I really have a 2 part question: 

1. Is there a way to add that Approvals function to the Nav bar? 
2. If not, what is the appropriate type of project to create that includes this functionality?
   1. Additionally, can I migrate all existing issue types, automations, and issues from one project to the new project (containing approvals)?

Hi Chris,

Built-in approvals only show for Jira Service Management projects or Jira Work Management Team-manage projects.
