Ability to have a custom field that is a dropdown with a status icon/field

Question

I understand that Jira Software doesn't have an approval process available, and is available in work management only. I have stakeholders that don't have jira access, so having a workflow update doesn't help either.

Is there a way to have custom dropdown with the stakeholders name, as well as an icon or second dropdown of pending approval or full approval?

I was thinking something similar to what you see with a pull request linked into a jira.

Thoughts?

Two custom fields?

It sounds like giving them access to Jira would be easier though - you're working around their access using custom designs, rather than granting access and either...

* Using a product which has approvals built in - Jira Service Management, Jira Work Management (Premium - coming soon)
* Using an App for approvals
* Creating something custom using workflows, automation, etc

Without access, how are these other Approval fields updated? Is it still just a manual view?
