Which database is suitable for Jira Data center (MySQL or Postgres)

Glen2021 May 4, 2021

Hi All,

Is there any recommendation for which database we should use for the Jira data center (MySQL or Postgres)?

Advantages or Disadvantages is any?

Currently we are using MySQL 5.7 which is installed in-house and we are planing to migrate the Jira to AWS infra and want to use the RDS Aurora.

Any suggestions if anyone using the Aurora DB for there Jira.

Hi @Glen2021

I believe only Postgres as you are going to AWS Aurora.

You can find a list of supported database and their versions in the supported platforms page: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/supported-platforms-938846830.html

For Aurora only Postgres is supported by Atlassian is true; on the other hand it is Open Source and less costly. AKTAR
