Sometimes. A version of Service Desk may work with a range of versions of Jira Core.
Check under "manage applications" and you'll see if you can upgrade there.
Thanks Nic. We were able to update in our test environment successfully. With licensing only needed for Service Desk, Core, or Software, I am wondering how many upgrades you can go without needing to upgrade Core. And, can you update Core without licensing?
