Importing customers through Insight

Adam Plevin March 12, 2018

I've a new setup, Jira Service Desk and Insight, I pulled all the users into Jira via AD and I get all the data I expect.  I then want to link the users to objects in Insight...  I can't work out how to so I pull all the users into insight via an LDAP import and now I can associate them to their objects in insight...  But I can't get these insight user objects to be the customers in Jira Service desk.....  I'm clearly missing something please help!

Hi Adam,

Did you try the Insight Jira User import?

You can try with the predefined structure/configuration and see what to expect.

Otherwise I would say that the the user names has to be under attributes of type User.

Hi Asparuh,

Yes tried that, it pulls the local user list from Jira to Insight not the AD imported user list.

I can't believe I'm the first to try this so I'm sure I'm missing something.

Adam.

Hi,

Thanks for the information.

However I would need to clarify, what are these "customers in Jira Service desk" - are they Jira users?

Also what is the use case with these users - are you trying to set them as Reporter for example?

Only Jira users can be set to the Jira issue fields.

Anyhow, you can use the Insight user objects on insight Custom Fields, Insight Post Functions ... For example you can set Insight User Objects to Insight Custom fields like Approvers.

Hi,

Customers in the ServiceDesk are not JIRA users, but it pulls them in from AD.  They are able to raise issues within the environment but not be classed as users.
