How to block specific emails from a client but let others through

I have a client that sends emails to my Ticketing Email address which properly created tickets for the team.

This same client ALSO sends us another email every day with the same Subject, except with a different date (ie - DUMMY FILE 08/18/2022).

I would like to block or delete all tickets from this client with the subject containing "DUMMY FILE".

How would I do this?

Hi @Robert Levine my first suggestion is to instruct the client to stop sending the DUMMY FILE email. That's assuming the email is not required/necessary.

If this DUMMY FILE email is necessary, then you could create a Jira automation to close the issue. Something along the lines of:

  • Trigger: Issue created
  • Conditions:
    • Summary ~ "\"DUMMY FILE\""
    • Reporter = [CLIENT]
  • Action: Transition issue to Closed
  • (Optional) Action: Add comment to issue
    • Make visible to customer
    • Leave a comment explaining why the issue was automatically closed.
