How to add assets to inventory

I would like to know how to add assets to inventory and how to manage created assets. Is there an official way? Is there documentation available with instructions etc?

There isn't an "official" how to for asset management but there are a number of discussions surrounding the topic:

JIRA for asset management: Overview

Take a look at these resources, especially the JIRA for asset managment article.  It has the following sections:

1. Overview
2. Inventory setup
3. Workflow setup
4. Reporting setup
5. Physical implementation

Those should provide a blueprint on how to set this up in your environment.

Hi Branden,

I'm trying to the do same, but there's something I can't figure out with the 'Physical Implementaton' section. I'm hoping you can help. How did you guys go about creating blank issues to match your unused physical asset tags? I can't figure out how to create them in advance, as each asset type could be different.
