Hi Community,

I'm struggling with a basic custom field set value automation in JSM.

  • Trigger: Issue updated
  • Issue fields condition: Reporter equals email@domain.com
  • Then Edit issue: selected field is the custom field 'Service Type' but can't find the syntax to make this populate to the 'Other Requests' field option.

Can anyone advise?

Hi @Mark Whitmore

Welcome to the community!

If you can't find "Other Requests" in the dropdown, it may be because the value is not available in the list of predefined options. In this case:

  • You can either type in the exact name of the option manually (if it's a single select field).
  • If it's a multi-select field, ensure you're selecting the right option.
  • Check the field type (Single Select vs. Multi Select) and confirm that it’s compatible with automation.

Thanks @Anahit Sukiasyan

For clarity, what would be the syntax of the exact name option entry? Is an "=" operator required or quotation marks?

@Mark Whitmorewhen manually entering the exact name of the option in Jira automation (e.g., for a single-select or multi-select custom field), no special syntax such as an = operator or quotation marks is required. You simply type in the exact text of the option as it appears in the field configuration.
