Hi there - we are currently running a trial with JSM on-premise and wonder if we can migrate an existing JSW project to JSM.
The idea is to reuse / recycle an existing Jira Software project (used as a Helpdesk project) to Jira Service Management.
Goal is to have all existing issues (read: Helpdesk tickets) available in the future JSM project.
We tried to switch the project type from Software to Service - didn't help.
We tried to create a new project with a shared configuration reusing the old JSW project - didn't help.
We don't get the new "Request Types" etc. so we assume we must have missed something :(
Any help is most appreciated - Thanks Christoph
Hi Christoph,
You cannot just change the project. You have to create a new project and then migrate the data.
Sorry - but somehow my instance seems wierd after installing JSM. I can still create Software projects and Business projects as before. But there is no "Create (new) project" for Jira Service Management. Only something labeled "Insight IT Service Management" which is probably not what I'm looking for.
Any thoughts what I'm missing here ? I've checked the usual JSM Getting started Guides - they all simply say "Create project" .....
NB: Restarts / Reindexing didn't help
NB2: Nothing suspicious in the jira-servicedesk.log

Just for information - clearing TomCat / temp directory and reinstall JSM helped. Can create a JSM project now and yes - MOVING issue works basically.
Obviously need to work on a number of custom fields so that they get moved as well, but that's another story.

Dear @Christoph Körner ,
have you tried to create a new JSM project, configure to for your needs and then MOVE the issues of your JSW project to the new JSM?
Bye
Thomas

No, but sounds like a reasonable idea - will give that a try and report back. Have a great day - Thanks Christoph
