First-name-only variable in canned responses

Wanting to configure canned response with only first name of reporter. Currently only have  {{issueReporter}} with pulls, example, John Doe. Wanting to pull only "John". Found some codes in Jira community that work but cannot get anything to work on my side (https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Service-Management/Using-firstname-of-assignee-instead-of-firstname-and-lastname/qaq-p/1761353) 

Any help?

As far as I can see the smart value in the article you've posted refer to email notifications crafted using Automation for Jira. The same sort of values cannot be used in Canned responses.
