Can we have more detail on what data stored in shared home of JSM cluster?

IGSL-HamletCHIU March 21, 2024

From this document (https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/running-jira-data-center-in-a-cluster-993929598.html), we knew that shared home stored attachments and backups data.

However, our client would like to know more detail / example on the stored data in shared home. And the difference of usage of local home and shared home.

Hi @IGSL-HamletCHIU

List of files stored on shared home:

  • attachments
  • avatars / profile pictures
  • icons
  • export files
  • import files
  • plugins
  • cluster status and synchronization data

In DC shared home is very important because those files are used by every node. Moving those files to node servers will destroy DC architecture and Jira will be not working correctly (I'm not sure if Jira will be able to work at all).

Seba

Our client have some further questions for shared home:

  • What kind files will be exported in “export file”?
  • How to manage the files locate in this folder (shared home)?
  • What is the usage of “import files”?
  • Any encryption?

Also, for local home "caches":

  • Is “caches” a folder concept?
  • What is the caches size?
  • What happen if oversize?
