Can I use automation rule to trigger another manually triggered automation?

Christopher Rampola June 3, 2022

Automation 1: Is manually triggered by jira-servicedesk-users and since we exceeded the limit (65) of components we have to create a new automation

For the new automation, can this be triggered when Automation 1 runs (w/o) manually triggering Automation 2?

I enable Allow rule trigger but it's not working

@Christopher Rampola -

What you need to ensure is that the rule 1 action (execution) creates the necessary event triggering your rule 2 event.  However, If your rule 2 is trigger using the Manually trigger event, then it will not work regardless if you check the checkbox or not.  In other word, your rule 2 cannot be trigger using "Manual trigger" event.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the update! I hope they increase the add components limit to at least 100 :)

Hi, @Christopher Rampola !

As an alternative, you can try out Business Process Manager add-on, developed by my team.

It allows to make 3 types of starting issues:

  • by scheduling
  • by URL
  • by button "Start" inside plugin

Also, you can set your processes into BPM and connect it with Jira Automation

So, you`ll avoid limits.

Here is an example of procedures creation in my team
