Can I have an automation skip fields that are empty?

cristian.filip August 6, 2024

Hey all!

I am currently experiencing issues where my automations are being throttled due to how many checks we have to do, This is for assets mainly.

I would like to know if there is a way to skip fields that already have data in them and only update the ones which are empty.

This would be to reduce the amount of throttling we have.

Hi @cristian.filip welcome to the Atlassian Community!

This means that your rule has breached the service limits.

Even if you skip fields with data, your rule will still breach the limit.

Check if you can change the trigger or add conditions. What are you trying to accomplish with your rule? Can you share the details?

Hey Dave!

Trying to automatically change the specifications of devices created, since we have quite a lot of devices it's easier to automate this than to create a selection for each
