Can I have a list view (queue) in a Jira Service Management Business Project?

Hi there,

Our manager wants a simple business project to replace the To-Do list he's been maintaining the more long-term tasks that we take care of in our department.

I've found that the "queue" view in the service projects look very close to his To-Do list and I was wondering if business projects provide a similar view. A business project would be much simpler to set up and with a lot less complicated workflows to configure, but I find the overall view in business projects very cluttered.

This is a screenshot of a To-Do list I set up using a Service Project. Can I configure a similar view in a business project?

Kind regards, Paul

Hi @Paul Ceronio

if you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you may want to have a look at the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a range of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

This is how it looks in action:

As you can see above, a JXL sheet can give you pretty much anything that a queue can give you, and much more. Plus, it works with issues and projects of any type, be it business, software, or service management projects.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes

Hi @Hannes Obweger - JXL for Jira ,

Thanks, that looks exactly like the solution I am envisioning.

Will definitely look into it.

Best regards,

Paul

seems that you can use a business project in Jira Work Management to streamline your long-term task management. However, it appears there might be some limitations in how you achieve a clean "queue" view similar to what you have with the Service Project. In the context of Jira Work Management, there are various views you could use to manage tasks effectively, but configuring a view exactly like the "queue" view in Service Projects might not be straightforward. Here's what you can do in Jira Work Management to try and achieve a similar effect:

List View: You can categorize issues in your list view, create and edit issues from the list view, and manage multiple issues in the list view. Filtering, sorting, and customizing the fields displayed in the list view can help you declutter the interface .

Board View: You can use the Board view to monitor your work and customize the board by adding, renaming, or deleting columns. Tasks can be transitioned through workflows on the board .

Calendar and Timeline Views: For tasks with specific due dates and dependencies, using the Calendar view to manage and view scheduled items or the Timeline view to visualize project progress can be useful.

Based on this information, while you can set up a business project with various views to help manage your tasks, replicating the exact "queue" view from Service Projects might be a challenge due to the way views are structured differently in business projects. The list view or board view would be your best alternatives for achieving a similar streamlined visual representation.

Hi Anas,

Thanks for your input.

Indeed, I've considered the Search view.

When I click on "All issues and filters" in the Issues view of a business project, I get to the Search view, which is a lot like the queue in a service project.

Is there a way to make the search view the primary view in a business project?

Thanks and regards

Paul

Sorry, is the Search view what you mean by the "list view"?

Just to clarify, we use Jira Service Management Data Center and the Business Projects offered there don't seem to feature Lists, boards or Calendars.

Otherwise, I think Lists would have been ideal for the purposes of a simple To-Do function...
