Can I add the service desk approval flow to a non-service desk project?

Hi community,
I'm trying to replicate the approval process in the beginning of my internal software project. Following this link, https://confluence.atlassian.com/servicedeskcloud/setting-up-approvals-816880004.html#Settingupapprovals-workflow, I don't see an "Add Approval" field when clicking on a status in the Workflows -> Diagram view.
Essentially, I want to reuse that little workflow to assign developers as the reviewers before starting work on a product feature.
Has anyone done this before and is it possible?
