Bulk adding Jira Product Discovery product access for all active users?

We want to allow all our active (staff) users in our Atlassian site to be able to view Jira Product Discovery projects.

Currently we have a few thousand active users. About half of these are licensed users of various Jira products, the other half are non-licensed Jira Service Management portal customer users only.

We want all our staff to be able start using Jira Product Discovery, even just to be able to view product roadmaps, etc. Not necessarily contribute ideas or edit information in a JPD project.

Is there an easy way to flick a switch somewhere, and instantly provide all our active users in our Atlassian site with product access for JPD?

Is there a developer somewhere in the Atlassian or JPD team who can help us with this? We wish to save some time manually adding product access to our base of active users.

Thanks,

Matt

When users are given product access, they are placed into a default group.  For example, our default group for Jira Software is called jira-software-users (most likely yours is too).

One option is to go to Administration -> User Management -> Product Access and then under Jira Product Discovery, add the jira-software-users group.  This will give everyone with Jira Software the access to JPD.  You then just add the group to the project with Viewer permission.

You can also probably just open a Jira helpdesk ticket asking that all active users get JPD added.

Thanks Erin, I think we may do this for the licensed users we have in our ecosystem already. And then do the remaining staff manually.

@Matt Lane here's how I would do it:

  1. Do what @Erin Mihalik suggested: add the "jira-software-users" group to the Administration -> User Management -> Product Access ->Jira Product Discovery
  2. Make sure that your Jira Product Discovery projects are set up with "Limited" project access: Project Settings > Access > Project Access = Limited
  3. Add people to each project if they should be able to create/edit ideas and/or administer the project. Project Settings > Access > Add people, with the roles "Administrator" or "Member"

This will mean that everyone in Jira will have access to Jira Product Discovery. And they will be able to open any project, view ideas, comment, vote.

Only people who've been added specifically to each project with the roles "Administrator" role will be able to administer the projects and create/edit fields, and the ones with "Member" roles can create/edit ideas/views

Thanks Tanguy! Much appreciated.
