I am trying to add a Due Date date field to my JPD project and when I add the field it notifies me:

A field with the same name already exists for this project.

When I search for the field I have 0 results. I need to be able to add a Due Date field so we can see if we can use either Advanced Roadmaps or Planyway so our executives can see a high level roadmap.

Due Date is a reserved field name in Jira. You can use the Project Target which is exactly what you are looking for.

You can also create a custom field with a slighly different name like "Project Due Date"

I want to add to this question - I'm trying to add a custom field of type Date to JPD (which is not a problem) but when I'm trying to query it won't regard this field as a date (won't allow me to use <, > etc options) but rather regard it as a string (giving only options like ~ and such).

I'm trying to add a field of Due Date and then have a chart that shows items that are close to the due date, or have passed it.

Thanks

@Hermance NDounga perhaps you can help?

Adding @Tanguy Crusson , perhaps you can help with the JPD date field question?

Thanks

Hi Margaret

It sounds as though you're trying to add a new custom field called Due Date?

If so, Jira has a system field for Due Date. You could create a field with a different name or use something like the target dates for your project as it doesn't look as though we have the ability to add some of the system fields into the JPD ticket views yet (happy to be corrected on that).
