Recommendations for Idea to Epic Mapping

I'm trying to figure out the best way to map fields from an idea to an epic when it's created via the Discovery tab. Some of the fields I'm using are global fields that exist on both the idea and epic - is there some configuration I'm missing to get those to map? Or is setting up an automation the best way to go to accomplish this? Thanks!
