I encountered a limitation when creating values for my fields: I need to define a hierarchy of values for one of my fields. For example, I want the field "Goal" to have multiple levels of values (e.g., Goal A, Goal B, Goal C). Under each of these values, I'd like to add a second level of options (e.g., under Goal A, there would be A1, A2; under Goal B, there would be B1, B2, etc.).
As far as I can see, Jira Product Discovery doesn't support nested or hierarchical values in fields (At least the Select and Multi-Select fields type which are my concern). Is there a way to achieve this through configurations, workarounds, or plugins? Any guidance or suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Hi @Kamel Salah ,
This is not a functionality Jira supports in general as far as I my knowledge goes. It also indicate complexity which may not be needed.
If Jira begins supporting tree structures for the input fields then people will start using 2, 3, 4... which will result in a mess.
What you can do is define two fields, one for the high level goal and one for the lower level goal. Those would be much easier to handle. Hope this helps.
