Migrating Insight Links from Jira to Jira Product Discovery

Hi Community,

I'm currently testing migrating to JPD, but it isn't as easy as I hoped.

I already had linked our support tickets via the 'Idea' issue link type created by JPD and now hoped when moving or cloning the issues into JPD that these links would create Insights. Instead, the links seem to vanish. Even when adding this issue link type manually, the issue link is no longer visible anywhere after the link has been created. It’s visible in the issue history, though.

Does anyone know of an easy way to create insights out of these issue links?

HI @Luka Hummel - codefortynine : using the issue link (is data point for / is idea for) does not suffice to create insights - you do need to create the insights either via the UI or the API for it to work. It's something we plan to add later (that the insight gets created if you use the issue link.

You have 2 options:

  • you could use a separate issue link type to keep track of the original ticket this idea came from. If you do that then the issue links will show in the idea
  • you could use the insights API to create insights instead. It's in beta and we'll need to rework it but it could work for your purpose. Examples here

Hi @Tanguy Crusson

Is there a way to call the API via Jira Automation?
