During the planning meeting, we aim to streamline the process by accessing epics directly in JPD, bypassing the need to navigate through Jira Software.
Additionally, we seek to visualize the roadmap by focusing on epics rather than ideas, especially in cases where there are multiple epics associated with a single idea.
Thank you for your cooperation!
The purpose of JPD is very different (in my mind) than the purpose of JSW. It spans much more than your dev cycle. Ideas are things you capture, evaluate, analyse and plan before you even write a single line of code. You capture insights, thoughts etc. in JPD, which then helps you decide if/when you will actually develop the idea. JSW then comes into play to manage the development work. An idea might be implemented across many Epics. You then link those Epics into JPD in the Delivery tab and you can show a progress bar of that delivery progress as part of your views on the ideas.
If all you are intested in is tracking Epics for Delivery, then I would suggest using JSW instead; if you have Premium licensing then you can get a great overview of your timeline in the Plan tab (Advanced Roadmap).
As an ex PM, I would agree on this idea. Epics is something that catches our eye the most. Is there a specific reason you are not using Jira Software, since it meets the requirements that you are having?
Currently, there is no plan to add the epics as part of the JPD: https://www.atlassian.com/roadmap/cloud?selectedProduct=jpd&

@Nikola Perisic Thank you for your answer.
The reason is that we would like to see the Epic Description (not just the list of epics under idea) when we go over the roadmap and the list of ideas in JPD during the Quarter planning meeting.

@Liora Naginsky There are a few workarounds people are using to create better roadmap visibility within JPD. Once such method is copy and pasting links to other views into the description field of the JPD ticket.
If you want to see a list of Epic Descriptions on a JPD idea, you could copy and paste the link to the Jira epics into the description. The link will be auto transformed into an embedded object, and you can select the Card View to see a brief synopsis.
This would require you manually updating each JPD ticket, but it's possible.
