Task & Sub Task format

Kerri Simpson February 12, 2020

Hi Guys,

Ok so Tasks & sub tasks have a set format and may have fields that you have added via schemes etc Is it possible to template tasks & sub tasks so that for a particular repetitive issue you can say use a drop down and select the template your require with the instructions on how to do it?

What it is we are going to use JIRA for our SOP's so there are a number of steps to the different tasks which need to be broken down into sub tasks

So Task 1 Do this

         Subtask 1 step 1

         Subtask 2 step 2

And so on. So for each step we want a template with the different instructions. Is it possible also to maybe automate this procedure?

Is any of this possible?

Thanks

Hello Kerry,

Thank you for reaching out.

I can think of two options you can use to achieve something similar to an issue template, where you can easily set the issue fields with pre-defined values:

1 - Create custom issue types to be used as child issues. For these issue types screens, create and add custom fields with all the information you need, where you can set the template information as Default values.

Performing these steps, every time you create an issue of that specific issue type (The drop-down you are looking for), the default values will be automatically added to the issue fields.

To know how you can create custom issue types and configure its screens, check the documentation below:

- Configuring custom issue types

Associating screen and issue operation mappings with an issue type

To know how you can create custom fields and configure default values, check the documentation below:

2 - You can also use a third-party App to configure issue templates, like the one listed below:
