When Stories etc are synced from Jira to Jira Align it truncates the SP value into the nearest value of the selected schema. (chosen in Jira Align e.g. 1,2,3,5,8,13,20). This is causing us a headquakes when comparing metrics across platforms. As SP field in Jira is free in format. It would be really nice of it just synced the value without changing it. This is also good practice for a synchronization function anyway.
I fully understand the reason why we do not want to estimate in half SPs and stick to an approx fibonacci scale, but that should be kept in a separate discussion.
Do you know if one can setup the system to use the fibonacci scaled when entering the SP from Jira Align, however if the value comes from Jira then it just takes the values as is, without changing it. - If you then later update the value again from JA you stick to fibonacci scale as selected in the setup of JA.
Check that
Also make sure that the Fibonacci is set, by following the below steps.
You see "Point System" where you can set Fibonacci or Power of 2.
Hope this helps!

Hi Raja,
Thanks for taking the time writing:-)
Maybe my description is not clear but this is not my problem. My problem is that in jira when SP are set there (as they in our setup is for 99.9999% of time) Then they can chose whatever decimal number they want to. then when this is synced to Jira Align, the number get rounded. I should just go in unchanged. That would keep numbers in the two system equal.

Hi @Morten Christophersen - Ah, thanks for clarifying. That is the default feature of JIRA Align. Once the story point is pushed from JIRA to JIRA Align and if there is a decimal number entered in the JIRA then the decimal number will be rounded off to the nearest whole number in JIRA Align.
Unfortunately, there is no work around at the moment as the standard of entering the story points is the whole number across the organizations.

Hi,
Yes, I know that the default is integer numbers. But that does not change the fact that a "sync" function should only sync and not change values:-) The metrics are having different results, which ruins confidence in metrics....

Hi @Morten Christophersen - I understand your concern but I have not seen this Feature as part of their Roadmap but you can raise a request https://support.atlassian.com/contact/ with Atlassian to see if there are any alternatives. I am sorry I couldn't be of much help here.

Raja
