Release Vehicle Go-Live Timing

Thomas Dennis September 27, 2021

From the below linked article, it states the Go-Live field will appear once all information has been entered and the save button has been clicked.

How does the Go-Live date get calculated? Could somebody walk me through an example?

Thanks in advance - Tom

Hello Tom,

The article mentions:

"When the release vehicle’s status is set to Launched, the Go Live date is automatically set for today's date. The Go Live date cannot be set before the Start date."

This means:

  • As soon as you change the status of the release to "Launched", the "Go Live" date will populate with today's date.
  • You are then free to change the date (it just needs to be after the "Start" date).

Please also keep in mind:

"If the Launched status is changed to any status other than Closed or Archive, the Go Live date is cleared."

Does this answer you question?

Thanks Philipp!

If we have many epics which contain release vehicles, each will have it's own go-live date, what would be the best way to report on and track all go-live dates from a portfolio perspective?

You are welcome, Tom!

Concerning the second question: Did you already look at the roadmap release vehicle view (https://help.jiraalign.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002418293) or the release vehicle grid view?
