We are using Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Tempo. Today, we do a lot of manual setup and maintenance between Workday and Jira/Tempo and are looking to automate, including but not limited to project setup, user creation, approved timesheets (from Tempo to Workday), etc.

Are there recommendations for tools to use? Workato seems to be popular but from what I can tell there are a lot of complaints about their pricing model (and lack of transparency).

I would appreciate any and all recommendations.

Thanks!

Here are the integration options for Workday:

Use of integration tools: There is a wide variety of integration tools - Mulesoft, Boomi, Workato, Tray.io, Zapier. You can pick and choose based on your enterprise requirements.

Use of native Integration applications: OnLink provides native Workday integration from within Jira Cloud, Jira Service Management and Jira Work Managment. OnLink is available in the Atlassian Marketplace and is Cloud Fortified Certified. Onward (builders of OnLink) is also Workday Partner and their solutions are design approved by Workday. We have several Workday customers who use our app for integrations. You can refer to this article for more info. Also link to OnLink documentation.

Use of custom development: Workday offers both SOAP and REST APIs. You can build custom development using the APIs to send and receive data.

Disclosure: I'm part of Onward who built OnLink. If it helps, I'm happy to give an overview of OnLink.

There is always the custom integration route to consider.  The customer solutions experts at Valiantys would be happy to discuss solutions options with you.  You can hear an overview of a Workday to Jira/Tempo integration that we did last year for an large, enterprise client in this YouTube video.  I would be happy to arrange a call with you to talk further.

Hi @Sean Love ,

If you are looking for an alternative, ScriptRunner Connect would be able to meet your needs. For Jira and Tempo, we have built in connectors, so connecting to those tools can be done in a matter of minutes. We don't have a Workday Connector yet, but with ScriptRunner Connect you can use our template to connect to any tool that supports Oauth 2.0 (I am recording a video showing how to do this, and will update my answer once that is published)

Once you have connected to the tools, you mentioned your automation would be from Jira/Tempo to Workday. With ScriptRunner Connect you would create a Workspace, that would have defined Event Listeners for when to trigger your scripts. As with the Connectors, we have built in Listeners for Jira so you can easily configure them. Then it would just be a matter of writing a script to send that data over to Workday, but you would also have a flexibility to make any changes/customisation you want.

Because we can Connect any tool that has an API and supports Basic Auth/Token Headers/Oauth 2.0, ScriptRunner Connect can also be used to solve other integration challenges you might have now, or in the future.

Are are also very open with our pricing, but if you would like to know more I would be happy to help or jump on a call to run through any of this with you. You can book time with me here

You can access and try out ScriptRunner Connect now, with our free plan. All you need to do is sign up here.

Let me know if this helps!

Kind regards,

Bobby

If you want an iPaaS that have integrations with Jira and Workday then Workato would be the way to go. Another option would be to use Tray.io, but it doesn't have an integration to Workday, so you would have to be able from Workday to trigger the workflow in Tray.io some way.

We use Workday and most of automations we do are either triggered from Okta when a new user is added, or via email from Workday that creates a request type and then automations will massage the information in it and take action on it.

You also have OnLink in the Marketplace that you may want to take a look at.
